## Puzzle solution

Situation puzzle. Nails in balance.

I bought this situation game some years ago at a street market in Gandia (Valencia) and I hadn't published about it in Neuron Juice yet. Its craftsman signs his puzzles as JcC.

This puzzle is formed by 7 nails and a wooden base that serves as bracket. One of the nails is black although it's just because of aesthetic reasons. The nails can be taken off the base, except the black one that must be nondetachable.

This puzzle is a different one —its objective isn't to assemble or disassemble pieces, nor release a ring, nor arrange pieces. Its objective is to put the movable nails in balance on the black one.

Solution of the situation puzzle.

Although in this version we only put 6 nails on the black one, this method is also acceptable for a higher number of nails.

Just arrange the nails as in the pictures:

Take the nails paying attention to keeping the heads between the pair of nails that support the others, and then place them on the black nail.

### Solution situation puzzles. Swing.

- Place the puzzle in the same position as in this picture.

- Place the left ball close to the hole on the strip. To do this, you have to take it up all over the rope and through the small loop.

- Take from behind the strip the two ropes that go out of the hole and pull them so you take the small loop through the hole.

- Take the ball that was close to the hole to the right side of the ropes.

- Take the ropes that are in the front part of the strip and pull them, so the loop goes back to its original position.

- Take the ball down so both balls will be together and you will have solved the puzzle.

### Solution situation puzzles. Carabiner.

- Place the puzzle in the same position as in the picture.

- Take the ring that is attached to the rope through the slot of the carabiner.

- Turn the free ring clockwise until it surrounds the wire of the carabiner and the rope.

- Take the free ring up and through the slot. Now it is free.

### Solution situation puzzles. Stairs.

Take the numbers in the picture as a reference to define the rings and the gaps between the poles.

In the initial position, the rope is  in A and the objective is to take it to position E, outside the figure.
To get to E it is necessary to go through B, C and D first.
When taking the rope through the rings, we must always do it from bottom to top and keeping one part in each side of the pole.

Going from position A to B.

Take the rope through ring 1, over ring 5, through ring 4 and over ring 5 again.
Now we are in D with the rope through 1.
Take the rope through rings 3 and 4, over ring 5, off ring 4, over ring 5 and off ring 3.
Now we are in C with the rope through 1.
Take the rope through rings 2 and 3, over ring 5, through ring 4, over ring 5 and off rings 4 and 3.
Now we are in D with the rope through 1 and 2.
Take the rope through ring 4, over ring 5, off ring 4 and over ring 5 again.
Now we are in B.

Going from position B to C.

Take the rope through ring 2, over ring 5, through ring 4 and over ring 5 again.
Now we are in D with the rope through 2.
Take the rope through rings 3 and 4, over ring 5, off ring 4, over ring 5 and off ring 3.
Now we are in C.

Going from position C to D.

Take the rope through ring 3, over ring 5, through ring 4 and over ring 5 again.
Now we are in D.

Going from position D to E (outside).

Take the rope through ring 4 and over ring 5.
Now we are in E.

Now we just need to get the rope to its original position in order to boast in front of your friends.

### Solution situation puzzles. Leather.

The solution of this puzzle is not too high, though the rigidity and the measurement of the materials used might make it difficult for you to find it. First of all, check that the dimensions are the same or proportional to the ones given. Then, follow these steps to solve the puzzle:

- Place the center of the rope on the upper part of the slots in the leather (the further spot from the hole) and put the hole rope behind the leather piece (on the part you can't see on the picture).

- Without letting the center of the rope move, take the upper part of the leather piece through the hole from behind to the front (following the direction of the rope).

- If the center of the rope hasn't moved from the upper part of the slots, now the balls can go through them and release the rope solving the puzzle.

- Now you just have to reassemble the puzzle to start again.
